Forest Car Park (marked as 'Primary Location' on MTBtrails.info above).
Pitfichie is a designated mountain bike area. From the car park the fire-track starts to climb and carries on for about 1 mile, levels out slightly then climbs again until you come to the top of the hill . From here we take the single-track climb up through the trees, which is a good test, and brings you to a small clearing before you start to climb the first of the two hills. The first hill, Green Hill, is hard packed single-track and, if you have the stamina, is all cycleable. The descent off the first hill is good and not too technical.
The second hill, Cairn William, has a man-made single track with fun easy obstacles on the way to the top. The decent is also man-made single track that cuts across the hill, left to right several times, and finishes with a fun park.
As from June’ 08 the Neeps cleared a single track from the fun park to avoid the fire-track decent. This has become progressively better as more bikers use it.
At the bottom, you follow the main fire-track back to the car park.
Note there are two option to vary the ride, one is to complete the whole fun park and climb to the top of Pitfichie hill and incorporate the Pitfichie Downhill course. The other is to go over Green Hill again backwards on the way back to the car park.
Red (additional Pitfichie downhill track is Orange)
