Over the last few years we have run a weeks mountain biking holiday in the summer. We go with an organised company and venues have included France, Italy , Spain and Switzerland (see below for links). As uplifts are often by ski-lift or shuttle bus, these are an opportunity to do much more descending than is possible in the UK.

Typically the week would cost about 700-900. Who would be interested and has anyone got any suggestions of where they would like to go?

For a taste of what we have done in previous years, check out these links:

2015 - Northern Spain www.basquemtb.com
2014 - Southern Spain www.ciclomontana.com
2013 - Italian Alps www.rivierabike.co.uk
2012 - French Alps and Andorra www.singletracksafari.com

I'm interested. I relay liked Italian riding, food and of course REED WINEEE.
Finale Ligure is the place where EWS is hosting one of their events, so it's probably a good place for riding: http://www.justridefinale.com . I'm not sure if this is similar to rivierabike.com because during their holidays we rode farther into the country.

Southern Spain will be a sweat fest for us white aberdonians. You'll do your best stay out the sun let alone ride in it I'd think. France and maybe Italy offers the best compromise of good weather and trails.

I'm up for Italy as I agree with Gregor that food and wine is an important part of the holiday :)
I've seen that Singletrack has updated the Andora bike holiday to be almost zero uphill pedalling ( http://www.singletracksafari.com/andorra-altitude/ ). Worth considering as the trails was quite amazing however the amount if climbing was a bit annoying.

You make a good point, what I should have said was if we choose Spain, it won't be July or August as you quite rightly point out it is too hot. If Spain is the choice it will most likely be September.

So to be clear the choice of location does impact the timing:

Alps - July/Aug
Spain - Sep/Oct
Italy - Aug/Sep

There may be some variation depending on the exact location and altitude, but these are general guidelines.

I'm up for the holiday this year Agree also that Italy sounds good.

With regards to when my roster is pretty random at the moment so couldn't really say when would be best at the mo so I'll just try and fit in with whatever is decided.

It is confirmed that the holiday will be to RivieraBike in Italy on 23rd July. Flying to Nice from Edinburgh.

Declan and I think it was Matt expressed an interest, if you could get back to me whether you still want to come. Anyone else who is interested please get in touch.

Also when are we flying back again? Will it be Saturday or Sunday?

There's a flight that will land in Nice at 9.00 and take off at 9.50.
I know that's an hour earlier than you guys are taking off but it seems to be the best connection? Would that be ok?
